Non-Surgical Face Lifters

Besides the usual skin care essentials of adequate cleansing, moisturising and sunscreen, there are now a variety of treatments available to improve the skin’s texture and look. Here are some of the different ways that you can erase imperfections and acquire younger looking skin.

1. Skin care products with therapeutic compounds

Skin care lotions, gels or creams containing a retinoid such as tretinoin (commonly known as Retin-A) are able to reverse the aging process to some extent. Products containing antioxidants such as Vitamin C and other hexapeptides can promote collagen production and other gentle acids can aid in skin peeling on a milder and gentler level.

2. Botox

This popular nerve toxin, when injected into the skin tissues, is able to help relax wrinkles for three to four months at a go. While it is only cosmetically indicated for vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, it is commonly injected into other parts of the face including forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, etc.

Patients should be warned that use on the chin and corners of the mouth may result in drooping or impaired mouth functioning if the wrong muscles are injected.

3. Fillers

These are substances that are injected into the face to fill out the lips or cheeks and fill out deep lines and wrinkles. There is a whole host of substances that can achieve this effect. They include hyaluronic acid, collagen, synthetic poly-L-lactic acid polymers, liquid injectable silicone, silicone oil, etc.

4. Microdermabrasion

Unlike the more intense and sometimes harsher version of dermabrasion, microdermabrasion is able to remove dead surface skin cells to achieve a smooth looking, glowing skin. The effects however, are only temporary

5. Chemical Peels

Chemical peels make use of mild acids to improve the complexion. It works especially well in damaged, wrinkled or blemished skins. While the mild acids sometimes cause skin reddening, patients are able to continue applying makeup and their normal regime. These peels have no permanent effects.

6. Laser Treatments

With the dizzying arrays of lasers for all kinds of treatments, it may be wise to consult a physician on the right type of laser to be used for red skin blemishes, brown or red spots, smoothing and tightening of skin or for removing acne scarring and wrinkles.

7. Plasma and Radiofrequency

Plasma skin regeneration is a process where nitrogen plasma energy pulses are sent underneath the skin to stimulate new skin cell division and collagen production. Similar effects can be achieved with devices that make use of radiofrequency waves.
