AKG was founded in 2007, and our aim is to provide several therapeutic services (first of all related to surgical treatment). One of the most important fields of activity has been the treatment of obesity. In addition to surgical treatment (bariatric surgery) and endoscopic treatment of obesity we also perform corrective operations of the body trunk. The latter is often necessary after marked decrease in bodyweight and also in association with age-related changes. The operations are performed in East – Tallinn Central Hospital.

The Hospital of Reconstructive Surgerywas founded at Keila Hospital initially under the name of Keila Cardiac Clinic in October 1993. Due to focusing on reconstructive surgery the name was changed into Hospital of Reconstructive Surgery in October 11, 2004. Our services included then and include still mainly cardiovascular surgery to which reconstructive plastic surgery has been added. In layman’s terms - we restore form and function, mainly regarding cardiovascular surgery. We can also restore internal and external defects caused by age or an accident, such as problems with breasts, obesity, varicose veins or traumatic injuries. Approximately 20 000 patients have been treated in the Hospital of Reconstructive Surgery within our 10 years of operation. There are about 600 patients being treated in our hospital annually, in additon to over a thousand outpatients. The Hospital of Reconstructive Surgery moved to the capital city of Estonia, Tallinn to the premises of the Magdaleena Hospital in October 2004. As a result, the number of our staff has grown and the working conditions have impoved significantly. At present, our clinic includes a surgical ward with a total of 28 beds, an operations’ block with 5 operating rooms and an intensive care unit with 11 beds.
The North Estonia Medical Centre is one of the top health care providers in the country. A patient-centred institution committed to professionalism, innovation and teamwork, the Medical Centre has more than 3,900 people – doctors, nurses, caregivers and specialists – working for the good of patients. Over 500 of them are doctors and at any given time, 100 medical residents are also based at the hospital. The hospital consists of seven clinics and 32 specialist centres. Similarly to European university hospitals, the North Estonia Medical Centre offers medical care in all specialist fields other than ophthalmology and obstetrics. Each year, around 145,000 patients receive specialist medical care at the North Estonia Medical Centre. A total of 36,000 of them are assigned to the hospital’s 1,200 beds. In 2014, 30,200 surgical procedures and operations were performed at the North Estonia Medical Centre.
